SEWARD, Neb. – On the same day he was recognized as the GPAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year, Concordia’s Matt Beisel has also been named the NAIA Midwest Region Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Beisel has now earned this particular award four times in his career. Each of those honors has come following GPAC women’s team titles.

Currently in his fifth season leading the cross country and track programs, Beisel has been voted as GPAC Coach of the Year five times (once for cross country, four times for track). In addition to the four GPAC women’s track and field titles, Beisel oversaw the 2019 GPAC women’s cross country conference championship. Heading into next week’s national championship meet, the Bulldogs rank No. 2 in the USTFCCCA National Rating Index and No. 1 in the Midwest Region. Concordia finished the conference championships with three event winners and seven runner-up finishes. It boasts 18 marks that rank in the top 10 nationally.

Beisel will lead a group of 38 athletes into the 2021 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships set for March 3-6 in Yankton, S.D. The 23 women’s national qualifiers tied for the most in the NAIA.
