Velders unblemished singles earn weekly GPAC honor

SEWARD, Neb. – The league office announced unbeaten Nick Velders as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Tennis faced two respected programs in the country, and Velders went 2-0 at No. 2 singles during the 1-1 week for the Bulldogs. The second-year transfer is the first to win the award this season for CUNE.

The Gelderland, The Netherlands, native is 8-0 in individual play campaign and 27-2 in his career. He has won every bout in consecutive frames, not having lost a set in singles. Velders continues to consistently beat the top competition winning in straight sets in his matches against McPherson College (Kan.), 6-1, 6-3, and Bethel College (Kan.), 6-2, 6-3.

Velders went 1-1 at No. 2 doubles with Ben Chisholm and has a 7-2 record in paired play this season. The 2025 GPAC Tri-Player of the Year has a 20-9 career showing in doubles.

Concordia will play three matches this weekend against Grand View University (Iowa), No. 14 Missouri Baptist University and Kansas Wesleyan University starting on Friday.
