
MARSHALL, Mo. – The Bulldogs came out strong winning all three doubles to defeat Missouri Valley College, 5-2, on Friday (March 20). Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Tennis has won three-straight games, including two this week. Michael Bedrosian clinched the match win.
CUNE has a 12-2 overall record with one more bout this weekend.
Bedrosian was subbed in at No. 6 after No. 1 Hugo Fuentes was pulled from the singles lineup. The Fowler, Calif., native dealt a 6-2, 6-2 consecutive set whipping of Felix Ortola. Bedrosian is 4-1 on the year in singles play.
Earlier in doubles play, the Bulldogs swept as the No. 1 duo, Leo Lopez and Daniel Caballeros, defeated Alexander Ballinger and Guilherme Silva, 6-2. No.3s Nick Velders and Ognjen Gajic clinched the paired point, 6-3, over David Schlageter and Felix Ortola. No. 2s Hugo Fuentes and Ben Chisholm finished the blanking with a 7-5 win.
No. 2 Caballeros and No. 1 Velders dialed in and clinched demanding victories over the Vikings. Caballeros, a Guatemala native, took a 6-1, 6-1 triumph and Velders a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ballinger. The second-year transfer Velders is 12-0 this season in solo play.
The unphased and unblemished Lopez at No. 4, defeated Stadtfeld, 6-3, 6-2, to go 11-0 in singles. A lengthy freshman, out of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, he has proven dangerous at the four and five slot.
Concordia (12-2) will take a massive step up in competition taking on No. 17 William Woods University (Mo.), 8-3, in Fulton, Mo. The Bulldogs will serve at 11 a.m. CT in the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.
