SEWARD, Neb. – After picking up its first GPAC win of the year in the regular-season finale, the Concordia University men’s tennis team will attempt to extend its season as long as possible. As the No. 5 seed in this weekend’s conference tournament, the Bulldogs will take on fourth-seeded Morningside (4-14, 2-3 GPAC) at 9 a.m. on Friday. All GPAC postseason matches will be contested at the Fremont High School Tennis Complex in Fremont, Neb.

Fourth-year head coach Joel Reckewey’s squad enters the tournament with an overall mark of 8-10 (1-4 GPAC). Concordia got on the board with a conference win with a 9-0 decision over Mount Marty last week. The Bulldogs will try to avenge a 5-4 loss at Morningside, which also occurred last week. Prior to that defeat, Concordia dropped GPAC matches to Hastings, 9-0, Midland, 7-2, and Doane, 7-2.

Individually, sophomore Luke Zoller has had the most success against conference opponents. He went 3-2 in GPAC regular-season singles matches while playing at the No. 2 position. Jeremy Berryman (2-3), Thomas Greeff (2-3) and Josh Miller (2-3) each won two GPAC singles matches. The combo of Berryman and Zoller went 3-2 versus conference rivals at No. 1 doubles.

The winner between Concordia and Morningside will advance to play GPAC regular-season champion Midland in the semifinals at 2 p.m. on Friday. Semifinal winners will then match up in the championship at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
