WINFIELD, Kan. – Four Bulldogs represented Concordia University Men’s Tennis at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships in Winfield, Kan., Sept. 25-27. The highlight for the Bulldogs was delivered by sophomore (athletically) Isaac Howes, who reached the consolation finals of the singles bracket.

Head Coach David DeSimone’s squad has an abbreviated fall schedule before ramping things up in the spring of 2021. Howes was joined in Winfield by teammates Jeremiah Berryman, Juan Rabellino and Luke Zoller.

After falling in his first match of the tournament, Howes won four-straight singles matches while advancing to the consolation championship. That’s where Howes met David Cruz of Southwestern College (Kan.) and was clipped by an 8-6 score. A native of Shawnee, Kan., Howes also teamed up in doubles with Zoller. A fifth-year member of the program, Zoller won one singles match on the backside of the bracket.

The duo of Berryman and Rabellino won their opening doubles match, 8-5, before falling in the second round. Berryman and Rabellion also captured one singles victory apiece on the day.

The spring portion of the 2020-21 schedule is yet to be announced. Concordia will play each of its conference matches next spring.
