WICHITA, Kan. – Five Bulldogs took to the courts in Wichita, Kan., this past weekend (Sept. 30 – Oct. 2) as the Concordia University Men’s Tennis team tested itself against some of the very best NAIA competition in the region. A doubles victory for Hugo Fuentes and Juan Rabellino was the major highlight for the Bulldogs as part of the ITA Central-West Regional Championships.

Head Coach Cam Long has led the Bulldogs into action for two tournaments and two dual meets so far this fall. Concordia stands at 1-1 in dual action with the win coming over Bethel College (Kan.).

In addition to Fuentes and Rabellino in doubles, the Bulldogs entered Shawn Springer and Santiago Abadia in doubles and three individuals in singles: Fuentes, Rojas and Springer. The consolation doubles win for Fuentes and Rabellino came over Adam Hanson and Jacob Phelps, 9-8 (7-4). In singles bracket play, Concordia competitors were eliminated after going winless while up against strong opposition.

The Bulldogs will close out the fall this Saturday while hosting NCAA Division II William Jewell College (Mo.). First serve from the on-campus courts is slated for 11:30 a.m. CT. Concordia will look to avenge its 7-0 loss to the Cardinals last season.
