
SEWARD, Neb. – The Bulldogs took down another in-state rival in an unblemished fashion slicing through Midland (7-0) without giving up a single set to snap a losing streak that has been held since 2018. Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Tennis continues to roll, winning 73 games compared to the Warriors’ 25. Ben Chisholm and Ognjen Gajic made quick work of their opponents giving up four games each in their combined doubles and singles performances.
Head Coach Lisa Hart and company are 14-4 overall and 2-1 in conference. The men are 8-0 on the home courts this season and break the 10-match skid.
“So proud of our team today,” Coach Hart said. “The composure they showed today throughout the entire lineup was impressive. Our team showed extreme mental toughness today.”
Concordia set the tone early in doubles. The Bulldogs dominated in two spots as Hugo Fuentes and Nick Velders blanked their opponents, 6-0, at No. 2, while Ognjen Gajic and Ben Chisholm cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 3. At No. 1, Leo Lopez and Daniel Caballeros secured a 7-5 victory in a tightly contested battle.
Doing Velders things, the No. 2 singles player defeated Unai Llerena in straight sets (6-2, 6-0) to clinch the team triumph. The second-year transfer is 16-0 in singles looking to best his single-season win record (19) from a year ago.
Chisholm at No. 5, came out strong with a daring Australian confidence breaking a three-match losing streak over Angel Bustos (6-2, 6-0). With the taking, he wins his 10th match of 2026 in individual play.
Gajic, inserted at No. 6, delivered a similar performance (6-0, 6-2) to best Marcin Gniadzik. A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Gajic won his first singles bout (1-1) of the year.
No. 1 Hugo Fuentes (6-2, 6-3), No. 3 Caballeros (7-6 (5), 6-3) and No. 4 Lopez (6-2, 6-2) finished off Midland in convincing fashion.
Concordia (14-4, 2-1 GPAC) will face Mount Marty (0-9, 0-3 GPAC) in Yankton, S.D. on Sunday (April 12). The Bulldogs last defeated the Lancers (4-3) in 2025 to move on to the GPAC tournament final.
