
YANKTON, S.D. – Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Tennis delivered a commanding performance on Sunday (April 12), sweeping Mount Marty University, 7-0, at National Field Archery. The Bulldogs controlled the match from start to finish, surrendering just 11 total games across singles play while improving to 15-4 overall and 3-1 in GPAC action.
“Proud of both our teams,” said Head Coach Lisa Hart. “We came out with a lot of energy and stayed composed throughout the match. We have a big couple of weeks coming up as we prepare for our final GPAC matches and our conference championship. Very proud of all our players!”
Concordia wasted no time seizing momentum in doubles. The duo of Leo Lopez and Daniel Caballeros set the tone with a 6-1 victory at No. 1, followed by Ognjen Gajic and Ben Chisholm securing a 6-2 win at No. 2. The Bulldogs picked up the third doubles point by forfeit to complete the sweep and take a 1-0 team lead.
In singles, Concordia’s dominance only intensified even with resting Hugo Fuentes and Ben Chisholm. Nick Velders and Ognjen Gajic each posted flawless 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at Nos. 1 and 4, respectively. Leo Lopez continued his strong play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3, while Santiago Abadia rejoined the lineup and added a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 5. Daniel Caballeros secured a straight-sets victory (6-2, 6-3) in the No. 2 slot, and Michael Bedrosian rounded out the scoring with a win by forfeit at No. 6.
With the sweep, the Bulldogs (15-4, 3-1 GPAC) will look to carry this momentum into their next GPAC matchup against Doane (5-12, 2-1 GPAC) on Thursday (April 16). The Bulldogs take the court at 5 p.m. CT in Crete.
