LIBERTY, Mo. – The 2019-20 season is underway for Concordia University men’s tennis. The Bulldogs got things started on Thursday (Sept. 5) in Liberty, Mo., by going head-to-head with William Jewell College. The Cardinals shut out Concordia, 7-0, winning all six singles matches and all three doubles matches.

Now in his second season as head coach, David DeSimone’s program is coming off a 10-10 mark during the 2018-19 campaign.

The lineup on Thursday included mostly familiar faces for Concordia. The singles lineup featured No. 1 Luke Zoller, No. 2 Isaac Howes, No. 3 Joseph Bindl, No. 4 Eduardo Rojas, No. 5 Jack Kitson and No. 6 Josh Miller. The only newcomer among that bunch is Rojas, a freshman from Bogota, Colombia. Zoller moved into the No. 1 spot after going 7-9 in the No. 2 singles position as a junior.

In doubles, Zoller and Kitson teamed up at No. 1, Bindl and Rojas combined at No. 2 and Howes and Miller paired at No. 3.

The Concordia men’s and women’s tennis teams are remaining in Missouri for this weekend’s Missouri Valley College Tournament to be played in Marshall. The event will feature competitors from four institutions.
