
SEWARD, Neb. – The Bulldogs came out grinding against Bethany College (Kan.) in doubles but made minced meat of the visitors in singles for a 6-1 performance on Saturday (Feb. 14). Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Tennis won every match in individual play. Daniel Caballeros clinched the team win against the Swedes.
CUNE has officially won three in a row with an early 3-0 unbeaten record.

After struggling in doubles, No. 4 Caballeros regained his bearing with a dominant win (6-2, 6-2) over Gustavo Cardoso to grab the fourth team point. The Union Commonwealth transfer took his second singles match as a Bulldog and has fit nicely early on in the starting lineup.
Another newcomer in Leo Lopez kept Diego Bsereni running back and forth to defeat the Swede 6-3, 6-2. Lopez, a freshman out of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, played in the No. 5 slot and garnered is 3-0 in singles in his time in Seward.
Veterans No. 2 Nick Velders and No. 3 Ben Chisholm spurred the Bulldogs on taking both their singles matches and their doubles bout, joining together in paired play. Velders blasted past Sebastian Stipanov (6-2, 6-1) with much pace and Chisholm continued to swing with fire over Martin Priban (6-2, 6-4). The two bested Priban and Dylan Gwilt at No. 2 doubles, 6-2.
No. 1 Hugo Fuentes fell to Francisco Bravo 3-6 in the opening set but showed his clutch genes by coming back to win in the second, 6-4, and in the tie break (10-6). With the match won, No. 6 Santiago Abadia defeated Gwilt 8-1 in a single-set take-all.
Concordia (3-0) won’t rest long before taking on in-state Nebraska Wesleyan (0-0) in Seward. The match is scheduled inside Walz Fieldhouse at 4:30 p.m. CT.
