SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University men’s tennis team has gotten on a roll with three-straight victories. The latest one came on Friday (March 6) afternoon when the Bulldogs took advantage of a sun-soaked day to play outside for the first time in 2020. Concordia’s depth was on display again as it defeated Baker University (Kan.), 5-2, on the Bulldog Tennis Courts.

The win streak has pushed second-year head coach David DeSimone’s squad to 3-2 overall. The Bulldogs also own wins this season over Sterling College (Kan.) and Bethel College (Kan.).

“The men started out strong at two and three doubles to take the doubles point,” DeSimone said. “We showed our depth in the middle and bottom of singles lineup again with a few decisive wins. It was a really good match for our team and we are excited to continue building off the past few matches.”

Concordia earned the doubles point by triumphing at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots. The duo of freshman Eduardo Rojas and sophomore Jack Kitson earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 and sophomores Joe Bindl and Isaac Howes dominated, 6-0, at No. 3.

In singles play, the Bulldogs won every match at the three through six spots. The winners were Rojas at No. 3, Howes at No. 4, Bindl at No. 5 and freshman Juan Rabellino at No. 6. Rabellino won impressively, 8-0.

The Bulldogs will be headed to Iowa for spring break with a run of NCAA opponents. On Saturday, Concordia will take on Grinnell College and St. Olaf College. Both contests will take place in Grinnell, Iowa.
