2025 United Soccer Coaches Region Staffs of the Year

SEWARD, Neb. – Following a historic season for Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Soccer, Head Coach Jason Weides has been honored appropriately. On Wednesday (Dec. 10), the United Soccer Coaches recognized Weides and his assistants as the 2025 Men’s Soccer NAIA Plains Region Staff of the Year. Only four NAIA men’s soccer coaching staffs nationally received this award.

Weides recently completed his 18th season as Head Coach of Bulldog Men’s Soccer. He was assisted on the 2025 coaching staff by Nick Holmes, Brennan Lamson and Haakon Utesch. They led the ’25 Concordia team to a 12-9-1 overall record during a campaign that included a GPAC tournament championship and advancement to the second round of the NAIA National Championship. It was the first team in school history to advance at the national tournament.

In addition, the ’25 team earned eight GPAC All-Conference awards, eight NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors and three College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades. The team’s journey in the postseason included GPAC tournament wins over Hastings, Briar Cliff and Morningside and a national tournament PK shootout win, 4-2, over No. 24 Eastern Oregon University (after a 0-0 draw). The season concluded in the second round of the national tournament.

Over his 18 seasons, Weides has compiled an overall record of 183-117-47 and is the winningest coach in program history. He has guided the program to three GPAC tournament championships (2015, 2022 and 2025) and to three NAIA national tournament appearances. His teams have reached the GPAC tournament final six times. The 2023 squad climbed as high as No. 18 in the NAIA coaches’ poll, marking the highest national ranking in school history.

United Soccer Coaches will announce National Staff of the Year recipients on Dec. 19.
