YANKTON, S.D. – Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Soccer scored four goals in the second half to dice Mount Marty (5-2) on Wednesday (Oct. 7). Outside of the run of play, the Bulldogs scored on three corner kicks and one penalty in the offensive attack at Crane-Youngworth Field. Elijah Fulton scored a brace, and Joe McCarroll marked a goal and assist.

Head Coach Bernie Ochoa and the Dawgs remain undefeated (5-0) in the conference and are on a six-game winning streak with a 7-4 overall record.

“Great overall teamwork from the starters and also the non-starters that came on,” Coach Ochoa said. “We were able to play everybody today, and it’s always a good thing to see when everyone’s collaborating for the team win. We knew coming in it was going to be a tough matchup, playing at their house. It’s always tough. In the second half, we just told them to be patient. We made a few adjustments, just playing a little bit more direct, playing early balls, servicing balls in behind their defense and creating more opportunities.”

The opportunities came quickly after the halftime break knotted at one apiece.

In the 48th minute, the red-hot McCarroll did it all by himself, burning in the go-ahead score from the corner kick past the outreaching keeper, leaving the Lancers stunned. A Prestwick Academy graduate, the sophomore has scored five goals in the last five games.

Less than four minutes later, centerback Sean Stratman took a penalty and buried his second goal in 2026. He is two-for-two on the year.

On another set piece, the dangerous free-kick master Hugo Garrote dialed up a bending corner toward Fulton, who headed in his second score of the game. The freshman, out of Gretna High, has marked three goals in his initial campaign, marking the first two-goal game of his career.

Ochoa continued, “It’s obviously a crucial, essential part, I believe, in the college game and in any game. We practice set pieces every week prior to game days. That’s something we key on, understanding that those are key points for us to be able to capitalize.”

Connor Robbins put on the finishing touches, weaving past three defenders and avoided the last line, he fired one into the far corner of the net in the only score in the run of play.

The Bulldogs edged the Lancers in shots (16-10), shots on goal (11-6), and corners (7-2). The leading shot-takers were Sebastian Montino (three), Fulton (two), McCarroll (two), Kai Olbrich (two) and Karlo Rodriguez (two).

Concordia played 22 from its roster and goalkeeper Florian Quast grabbed four saves in the win.

Mount Marty (4-6-1, 1-4-0 GPAC) had scores from James Starkey and Joshua Ndoli.

The Bulldogs (7-4, 5-0 GPAC) will return to Bulldog Stadium to square off against Dakota Wesleyan (4-3-1, 3-1 GPAC) on Saturday (Oct. 10). The Bulldogs will take the field at 3:30 p.m. CT. CUNE defeated the Tigers (2-1) last season.
