Season ends for Bulldogs with 2-0 loss to Hastings College in GPAC Quarterfinals

Hastings College, the top seed in the 2010 GPAC men’s soccer tournament, picked up a 2-0 win over Concordia on Thursday evening in Hastings.  The Broncos advanced in the tournament and improved to 18-0 on the season with the win.  Concordia ended the year with a 7-10-2 overall record.  Concordia lost its final six games of the season.   

Despite only scoring two goals, Hastings dominated play with a 24-3 advantage in shots in the match.  The Broncos totaled 16 shots in the opening half compared to just one for the Bulldogs.  Kolt O’Kelly, Tim Soenksen and Ian Euler managed the only shots on the night for Concordia.  Yannic Thiel totaled eight shots by himself for Hastings College, while Nate Polak added six shots in the game for the Broncos.  Hastings also held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. 

Thiel put the Broncos on top with a goal in the 37th minute of the first half.  Jordan Green picked up the assist.  The score remained the same until fairly late in the second half.  Green scored off an assist by Polak for the final score of 2-0. 

Cody Poteat made two saves to pick up the win in goal for the Broncos.  Chris Podlich made 10 saves but allowed the two goals in a losing effort for Concordia.
