Kansas Wesleyan runs past Concordia, 4-0

Kansas Wesleyan cruised past Concordia by the score of 4-0 in men’s soccer on Sunday evening in Seward.  The Coyotes scored a goal late in the first half and poured it on in the second half to pull away for the easy win.  KWU improved to 2-0 on the year with the win.  Concordia is still winless on the season at 0-2-2. 

With just four seconds remaining in the first half, KWU’s Trenton Corea scored off an assist by Miguel Madrigal to put the visiting Coyotes on top 1-0.  Kansas Wesleyan held a 12-5 advantage in shots during the first half and finished the game with a 20-7 advantage in shots. 

Alex Chavez scored on a penalty kick early in the second half to put Kansas Wesleyan in front 2-0.  Chavez scored again just two minutes later to increase the lead to 3-0.  Jorge Oseguera was credited with the assist on KWU’s third goal of the game.  David Hernandez connected on the final goal of the game for the Coyotes. 

Nick Esser had a team-high two shots for Concordia in the loss.  Goalie Chris Podlich made 11 saves in the game.  Kansas Wesleyan goalie Diego Millan made four saves to pick up the win for the Coyotes. 

Concordia hosts Bethany College on September 11 in an 8 pm contest at Bulldog Stadium.
