SEWARD, Neb. – After a slow start, the Bulldogs are rolling on a four game win streak and are set to face Briar Cliff on Saturday (Oct. 3) in Sioux City. Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Soccer came out on top in their past two contests against Doane (2-1) and Morningside (3-0). The Seward side is 5-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

By the numbers
• Since Oct. 18, 2025, the Bulldogs are 9-0 against league teams. This is the longest conference winning streak in the GPAC era by the program. The stretch garnered the 2025 GPAC tournament championship against Morningside (2-1) last season and an undefeated start in 2026. In the run, Concordia has beaten Dakota Wesleyan, Dordt (2x), Doane (2x), Hastings (quarterfinals), Briar Cliff (semifinals) and Morningside (2x). The next three opponents include Briar Cliff, Mount Marty and DWU.
• With a score by the Doane, the visitors were gutted, giving up a late score in the 76th minute. An influx of substitutions was forged into the lineup that made an instant impact to the Bulldog attack. Two freshmen out of Gretna, Neb., bolstered the onslaught to capture scores in the final minutes via Elijah Fulton and William Preston. Both squads ended with six shot on frame and Michael Wyvill had the assist. Concordia had a slight edge in corners (4-1) and took six of its eight total shots in the second half. Florian Quast tied a season high five saves.
• In the rematch from the GPAC tournament championship a season ago, the two team took a while to break through but the Bulldogs then rattled off a goal in the 29th, 34th, and 44th minute. Joe McCarroll opened up the scoring after a big assist from Michael Wyvill. Kade Olbrich scored his first career goal from his older brother Kai. Hugo Garrote scored his second goal off a free kick just outside the box. The two teams would render each other scoreless in the second half. The defense gave up eight shots but zero were on frame in the shutout. Quast now has three clean sheets.
• Sean Stratman was announced by the league office as the recipient of the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. The Omaha, Neb., native played all 180 minutes as the team surrendered only one goal in the two games. In the two games, the Bulldogs defeated Doane (2-1) in comeback fashion and blanked Morningside (3-0). Stratman and the defense allowed only six shots on target in the contests. A Creighton Preparatory School alum, Stratman has played 782 minutes (team high) of a possible 810 this season. He scored on a penalty kick against York University earlier in the year, the second of his career.
• Goalkeeper Florian Quast earned the first GPAC player of the week award (last week) for Concordia and the first of his career. The 6-foot-7 human shield recorded four saves in the shutout against Dordt and has three clean sheets this season. The Hochheim, Germany, native has 27 saves in 585 minutes played in the net. A first-year transfer from Milligan University (Tenn.), Quast has warranted a .771 save percentage and a 1.33 goals allowed average. He has a 4-2 record thus far with a game high five saves versus Bellevue, Grand View University (Iowa) and Doane.
• Through nine games, the Bulldogs have given up 15 goals (1.56 AA) from a .119 percentage clip. The back line has allowed 126 shots but with .569 shot on goal rate. Opposing teams have averaged 15.4 shots per game and two penalty goals. Teams have put together a total of 37 corner kicks compared to the Bulldogs’ 28.
• Placed at No. 1 in the GPAC preseason coaches’ poll, the Bulldogs aspire to make a run at the program’s first ever GPAC regular season championship. The table has Concordia at the top with an undefeated (3-0) record. Morningside (2-1) and Northwestern (2-1) round out the top three with Briar Cliff (1-1-1) and Midland (1-1-1) vying for the fourth spot. With the two wins, the Bulldogs jump in the second RPI ratings from 60 to 31 and is now the highest rated team in the conference. The Seward side has the 20th strength of schedule rating in the NAIA. Mount Marty is in the top-50 rated No. 47 as the next GPAC squad.
The opponent
The Chargers come into the week 4-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in GPAC play with a mid-week match versus former conference member Jamestown on Wednesday. Briar Cliff has beaten Hastings (2-1) and Kansas Wesleyan University (2-1). They have scored 16 goals on the season with a 1.78 goal per game average. BCU shoots 13.9 times per contest with a .128 shot percentage and 0.544 shot percentage on goal. Ignacio Barrios is the leading attacker with four goals and two assists on the year. Mario Granjo is behind him with three scores and two assists. Lucas Attanasio is the starting goalkeeper with 1.51. goals allowed per game and 32 saves (.727 save percentage).
Next week
Conference play is scheduled to continue with Mount Marty on Oct. 7 and Dakota Wesleyan on Oct. 10. The Bulldogs will hit the road to Yankton, S.D., then come back to Bulldog Stadium for two consecutive games starting with the Tigers.
