Concordia ties with McPherson College, 1-1

Concordia University played to a 1-1 men’s soccer tie at McPherson College on Wednesday evening.  The Bulldogs moved to 0-1-2 on the year.  McPherson College is 0-0-1 to start the season. 

The game remained scoreless into the second half of play.  Nathan Douglas scored the first goal of the season for Concordia to put the Bulldogs on top with just over 30 minutes remaining in the game.  Tim Soenksen picked up the assist. 

McPherson College tied the game at 1-1 with 13 minutes remaining in the second half.  Brent Mulford scored off an assist by Sam Tucker.  Neither team was able to find the net in the overtime periods. 

McPherson College held a 19-9 shot advantage over Concordia.  McPherson had seven shots on goal compared to just one for Concordia.  It was a wild contest with 35 total fouls, three yellow cards and one red card.  Chris Podlich made six saves in goal for Concordia on the evening. 

Concordia hosts Kansas Wesleyan on September 5.  Scheduled start time is 5 pm at Bulldog Stadium.
