Chavarria earns first weekly award

SEWARD, Neb. – Goalkeeper Inigo Chavarria was announced as the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday (Oct. 28). Chavarria helped lead to a shutout of Dordt (2-0) in the Bulldogs' lone match this past week. He joins Nolan Fuelberth as the second conference honoree this season for Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Soccer.

The Spaniard tallied five saves in the clean sheet and had back-to-back saves in multiple moments keeping the Defenders out of goal. With the delivered nil, Chavarria has earned his second shutout. In eight games played this season, the transfer keeper has allowed just six goals (0.81 goals against average). He also made 32 saves this year.

Chavarria has been a senior transfer from Harding University.

Concordia will face Doane in its regular season finale on Wednesday at Bulldog Stadium.
