Bulldogs edge Briar Cliff 1-0 for third straight win

Concordia University picked up a 1-0 non-conference men’s soccer win over Briar Cliff on Tuesday evening in Sioux City.  Raul Lopez scored the game-winner late in the second half to secure the third straight victory for Concordia.  The Bulldogs are 3-2-2 overall on the season, while Briar Cliff dropped to 2-4 with the loss.

The Chargers held the advantage in both shots and corner kicks.  Briar Cliff totaled 17 shots in the game compared to just nine for the Bulldogs.  BCU also had 12 corner kicks to just three for Concordia.  However, Chris Podlich made 12 saves in goal for the Bulldogs, and Nathan Douglas had the assist on the Raul Lopez goal.

Concordia returns to GPAC play on September 25 with a 3 pm contest at Dakota Wesleyan University.
