Event Preview: 2025 CUNE Collegiate Powerlifting Meet

SEWARD, Neb. – For the third year in a row, Concordia University, Nebraska Powerlifting will host its own meet. As a change in 2025-26, a new season will kick off with a home competition as the Bulldogs prepare to host the CUNE Collegiate Powerlifting Meet. Concordia will be joined by rival Midland for action on Saturday (Oct. 4) inside the Walz Fieldhouse. The previous two home powerlifting meets were staged inside the PE Center Gym.

Head Coach Freddie Myles’ lifting programs have continued to build momentum each successive year. This will be the fourth season of competition for Bulldog Powerlifting. Back in April, Concordia made waves on the national stage in Oklahoma City as the women placed fifth and earned a team banner. Four individuals garnered All-America awards, including national champion Rylee Ladd along with Taylor Hedke (third place), Tey Badger (fourth place) and Wyatt Hosick (fourth place). The 2025-26 roster features four past All-Americans and 19 athletes with experience at the collegiate national championships.

Prior to the start of Saturday’s competition (at 8:50 a.m.), the Bulldogs will honor their eight seniors. The seniors are listed below. Fifty-nine athletes are expected to compete at the CUNE Collegiate Powerlifting Meet. The sport includes squat, bench press and deadlift.

The fall semester slate for Concordia Powerlifting also features the Central Collegiate Cup Series (Nov. 22-23) in Fremont. There will be two additional competitions coming up during the spring 2026 semester, including the Collegiate Powerlifting National Championships.
