SEWARD, Neb. – Junior Nolan Zikas is 3-for-3. On Friday (May 11), the conference named Zikas to its 15-member men’s golf All-GPAC squad. The La Vista, Neb., native has now raked in the all-conference award in each of his three collegiate seasons. The GPAC recognizes the top 10 finishers from the conference championships as well as five wild cards selected by the league coaches.

Zikas had to be chosen by the coaches after he placed 16th (70-73-76-80–299) on the final GPAC leaderboard. An inspirational figure who has battled through cancer, Zikas has been the program’s top golfer for two years running. In 2017-18, Zikas broke a school single-season record for best 18-hole scoring average (74.69). His four-under-par 68 at the Blue River Classic in September equaled the school standard for lowest single-round score. Zikas placed inside the top 10 of five tournaments, including two top-five placements. He shot par or better in four of his 16 rounds this past season.

Zikas placed eighth in the GPAC as a freshman and 24th as a sophomore. He will enter his senior year with a career average of 76.15 (48 rounds). Zikas served as a primary reason why head coach Brett Muller’s 2017-18 team broke the school record for top 18-hole scoring average (306.88). The squad’s 288 at the first round of the GPAC championships equaled a program standard.
