LINCOLN, Neb. – From the perspective of Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf, freshman Calvin Zabloudil grabbed the spotlight in the third and final round of the 2025 Blue River Classic. The Gretna East High School product shot a two-under-par 70 on Thursday (Sept. 4) as the Bulldogs continued their incremental progress in the early part of the 2025-26 season. Concordia’s ‘A’ team placed 10th out of 16 groupings at the Blue River Classic, which the Bulldogs co-host with Doane at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s program entered all 15 of its competitors into the tournament field of 87 golfers. The Concordia ‘A’ team wound up shooting 310-307-303–920 while the ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams shot respective totals of 323-321-316–960 and 329-336-329–994.
“Definitely disappointing for our guys to finish 10th at our home invite,” Muller said. “We have a young bunch and we’re continuing to improve every round. When you zoom out a little bit, we’ve had five tournament rounds so far, and we’ve improved our team score each of those five rounds. That’s definitely a positive. Our top five (of the lineup) is a fluid situation right now. We’re trying to find out who our most consistent five guys are as we move forward this season.”
Zabloudil is working on staking his claim on one of those lineup spots. His final two rounds of the Blue River Classic represented his best work thus far as a Bulldog. The Omaha native shot 78-75-70–223 for the tournament and placed in a tie for 22nd. He was joined by three teammates in the top half of the overall tournament field: seniors Jake Richmond (77-75-73–225; T-28th) and Brock Rogers (77-76-77–230; T-33rd) and freshman Logan Krabbenhoft (76-78-80–234; T-39th). Richmond’s one-over-par 73 in round three marked a season best.
Thursday turned into a breakout day for another freshman as Charles Summy (Papillion, Neb.) equaled Richmond with a 73. Summy led the ‘C’ team and placed 56th overall. Summy was one of six Bulldogs to shoot in the 70s in the final round of the event. The likes of Jude Elgert (81-78-78–237) and Tyler Weismann (79-79-81–239) also turned in strong tournaments.
The play of Zabloudil and the 303 team score are positives Concordia can build upon. Said Muller, “Calvin’s been playing pretty solid to start the year. He birdied his last two holes of the tournament to shoot minus-two today. It was a fantastic day for him. Jake Richmond is getting closer to what we expect from him and we had a great performance from another freshman in Charlie Summy. We have a lot of capable guys. Consistency is going to be the key for us. We have a lot of freshmen and one junior college transfer. We’re getting more tournament rounds under our belt and trying to get better every day.”
Southeast Community College emerged as the Blue River Classic team champion. Doane and Iowa Western Community College held down the second and third spots, respectively. Hayden Delaloye of Southeast took home the individual gold medal.
