
SEWARD, Neb. – Following three tournaments, a match play event and the annual Bulldog-Tiger Cup this spring, Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf shifts focus to the 2025 GPAC Men’s Golf Championships. For the second year in a row, the championship tournament will be held at Beatrice Country Club in Beatrice, Neb. The 54-hole event will play out this coming Monday-Tuesday (April 21-22) with action getting underway at 8:30 a.m. CT on day one. Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad will be looking to climb the ladder after placing ninth in the GPAC a year ago.

By the numbers
· In the three tournaments this spring, the Bulldogs placed sixth out of 11 at the Doane Invite, sixth out of 11 at the Bethel Invite and sixth out of 10 at the Raider Invite held in Orange City, Iowa, on Wednesday. In 19 varsity team rounds, Concordia has averaged an 18-hole score of 306.3. It has carded scores of 300 or better in five separate rounds with a season low of 295 coming back in the fall at the Mount Marty Invite.
· Junior Jake Richmond of Elkhorn, Neb., has shined this spring. He was named the GPAC Golfer of the Week on March 26 and April 9 and has placed in the top 10 of all three spring tournaments: third at the Doane Invite, sixth at the Bethel Invite and eighth at the Raider Invite. During the spring semester, Richmond has carried an 18-hole average of 73.3, lowering his overall 2024-25 season average to a team best 75.6.
· Richmond is one of five Bulldogs averaging scores in the 70s in 2024-25. The others are seniors Justin Webert (76.2), Jake Hagerbaumer (76.6) and Jaxson Fullerton (79.2) and junior Brock Rogers (79.8). Other regulars in the lineup have been sophomore Jacob Dowd (80.4) and senior Gavin Buttshaw (80.5). Webert and Hagerbaumer are two of the most experienced players in program history with both veterans having played more than 80 career rounds as collegiate golfers.
· At the 2024 GPAC Championships, Concordia placed ninth with a three-round score of 303-314-314–931. In putting the finishing touches on a terrific five-year run, Drew D’Ercole (current graduate assistant coach) achieved the highest GPAC finish in program history. He placed in a tie for fourth while shooting 69-77-75–221. The rest of the Bulldog lineup included Jake Hagerbaumer (76-79-80–235; T-28th), Jacob Dowd (79-75-84–238; T-36th), Justin Webert (79-83-79–241; 44th), Brock Rogers (79-88-NA) and Gavin McWhorter (NA-NA-80). Hagerbaumer and Webert have both played in three GPAC tournaments in their careers.
· Over the previous five seasons, the program has recorded GPAC place finishes of ninth in 2023-24, fifth in 2022-23, sixth in 2021-22, ninth in 2020-21 and seventh in 2019-20. Northwestern is the reigning GPAC champion after it shot a three-round total of 299-299-302–900 during last season’s conference tournament. The conference champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships.
NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship
National qualifiers that come out of the conference championships will continue their seasons with the 2025 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship set to be played in Silvis, Ill., May 20-23. For more information on the national tournament, click HERE.
