Spring Senior Sendoff: Men's Golf

By Jacob Knabel on May. 7, 2020 in Men's Golf

Head coach Brett Muller’s 2019-20 golf rosters included three seniors: Paighton Barbre, Tylar Samek and Murphy Sears. Unfortunately, they did not have the opportunity to enjoy a spring season due to the coronavirus pandemic. The only spring event that took place was the men’s Embry-Riddle Spring Invite played over spring break in Prescott, Ariz.

Based on the two conference championship rounds contested in the fall, the Bulldogs turned in GPAC finishes of third on the women’s side (336-345–681) and seventh on the men’s side (336-329–665). Among the seniors, Crete native Murphy Sears was the most accomplished having earned All-GPAC honors all four years.

2019-20 Golf Seniors

Paighton Barbre
Hometown: Columbus, Nebraska
Parents: Brad and Tammy Barbre
Major: Studio Art
Post-Graduate Plans: To be determined.
Most cherished memories of time at CUNE: I will forever miss growing with my golf team and making new relationships every year. The best memories came from getting together with my friends and teammates any chance we got. I will always look back on the countless hours I spent in the basement of Brommer with my studio mates.

Tylar Samek
Hometown: David City, Nebraska
Parents: Brian and Christina Samek
Major: Business Administration with Marketing focus
Post-Graduate Plans: To possibly work for Northwestern Mutual and help with a high school golf team.
Most cherished memories of time at CUNE: Definitely being on the team that broke the school record for the lowest score. By being able to gain so many great relationships with numerous people from CUNE. The best thing though is to know that the future looks bright because of guys who are up and coming and to know that I helped lead them and make them strive for better results will always mean more to me than any medal or trophy.

Murphy Sears
Parents: Travis and Jackie Sears
Major: Business Administration with minors in Marketing & Graphic Design
Post-Graduate Plans: Hired as Sales & Marketing Coordinator for Landscapes Golf Management (Lincoln, Nebraska).
Most cherished memories of time at CUNE: I will always cherish the lasting relationships I have made at Concordia: those of friends, teammates, coaches, and others. Golf tournaments, intramural victories, and other activities have made for some memorable times!
