COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf will be looking to regroup after high scores plagued the lineup at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate hosted by Iowa Western Community College on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 22-23). All three rounds of the event were staged at Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where Hutchinson Community College emerged as the champion. The Bulldogs wound up in ninth place in a field loaded with strong junior college competition.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad finished with a cumulative team score of 323-334-323–980. The outing marked the fourth varsity event of the fall for Concordia.
Junior Jude Elgert set the pace for the Bulldogs while competing as an individual at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate. The Yutan, Neb., entered the day in a tie for 17th place (out of 58 in the field) before settling for 31st place. Elgert shot 78-73-80–231 for the tournament with his second-round score representing a personal best since transferring to Concordia before the start of the fall semester.
Each Bulldog in the five-man lineup placed between 44th and 57th overall. Senior Jake Richmond capped Tuesday with his best round of the tournament and moved up a spot into a tie for 44th (81-79-77–237). Richmond birdied on 12 and 15. He shared that placement with freshman Logan Krabbenhoft (79-79-79–237), who put together a consistent three rounds. The three through five spots in the lineup were held down by freshman Calvin Zabloudil (79-89-86–254), senior Brock Rogers (84-92-81–257) and junior Jacob Dowd (89-87-87–263).
Of the eight institutions represented at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate, five were junior colleges, two were NAIA (Concordia and Park University) and one was an NCAA Division III member (Nebraska Wesleyan University). Hutchinson won the tournament with an 881 over three rounds. Luke Strako took the individual title as he shot -1 for the tournament.

Select Bulldogs will participate in a junior varsity event hosted by Hastings on Thursday. For the varsity lineup, the fall season will resume (and conclude) with the Nebraska Intercollegiate on Oct. 6-7. State bragging rights will be on the line at a tournament slated to take place at Fremont Golf Club in Fremont, Neb.
