SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – A weather delay and the continuous threat of thunderstorms in the area resulted in day one of the Siouxland Invite being reduced to a single round (rather than the scheduled two rounds). After 18 holes were played on Monday (Sept. 14) at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, Iowa, junior Landon Weinandt and freshman Wyatt Groves emerged as the top competitors for Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf. They both shot seven-over-par and are tied for 38th out of 90 players in the tournament field.
Head Coach Brett Muller entered both ‘A’ and ‘B’ squads into the Siouxland Invite. The B team shot a lower score (320; +36) on Monday compared to the A team (330; +46). The tournament will shift rounds two and three to Tuesday in Orange City, Iowa.
Parity throughout the roster has made it a challenge for Muller to define A and B teams throughout the fall. In Monday’s round, only sophomore Kamden Zomer managed to shoot in the 70s, among the Bulldogs’ five A team players. Meanwhile, the B grouping got solid 78s from Groves (Omaha, Neb.) and Weinandt (Norfolk, Neb.). Weinandt’s day included three birdies. Next in line for the Bulldogs were sophomores Calvin Zabloudil (80) and Logan Krabbenhoft (80).
Concordia’s B team defeated GPAC rivals in Mount Marty (+38) and Briar Cliff (+46) in round one. The tournament title remains up for grabs with a tightly grouped top four in the team standings: Hastings (+8), Northwestern (+11), Doane (+13) and Morningside (+14).

Round two of the Siouxland Invite is slated to get underway at 9:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday from Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa. If all goes as planned, all golfers will play 36 holes on day two of the event (for a total of 54 holes for the tournament). Live scoring can be found via Clippd.
