YANKTON, S.D. – A starting point has been established for Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf as it opened the 2025-26 season at the Mount Marty University Invite. Over the two-round tournament held Monday-Tuesday (Aug. 25-26) in Yankton, S.D., the Bulldog ‘A’ team placed 10th out of 14 groupings (from eight different institutions). Three freshmen turned in the highest individual placements out of the 10 Concordia golfers who entered the tournament field that took to Hillcrest Country Club and Fox Run Golf Course.

Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad will go back to work in hopes of lowering its scores at next week’s outing on the home course in Lincoln. The two Bulldog teams shot respective Mount Marty Invite totals of 318-311–629 and 322-315–637.

“I definitely think we had some first tournament jitters, both yesterday and today,” Muller said. “We had five freshmen make their collegiate debuts, and some of them had some decent rounds. Overall, both days we got off to pretty slow starts, especially today. I’m proud of the way the guys battled back in their rounds to get the most out of it.”

A freshman out of Gibbon, Neb., Tyler Weismann shot 76-77–153 (+9) and placed in a tie for 32nd (out of 75 golfers) as Concordia’s top performer in Yankton. The team’s next best individuals were also freshmen as Calvin Zabloudil (78-78–156) and Logan Krabbenhoft (80-76–156) tied for 38th place. The Bulldog ‘A’ squad also featured a pair of seniors in Jake Richmond (82-78–160) and Brock Rogers (82-78–160) and freshman Kamden Zomer (85-82–167).

Krabbenhoft led the ‘B’ team while shooting Concordia’s best score (+4) in round two. The rest of the ‘B’ lineup included junior Jacob Dowd (80-78–158), sophomore Landon Weinandt (80-81–161), junior Jude Elgert (82-86–168) and freshman Michael Koenig (90-80–170). Of the 10 Bulldogs at the Mount Marty Invite, six are new to the program in 2025-26.

Clearly, the freshmen are going to be a factor for Concordia. Said Muller, “It was a good starting spot for those three (Weismann, Zabloudil and Krabbenhoft). We’ll continue to try to improve – not just those guys, but everybody. We have some room to grow in our lineup to try to lower our team score.”

The event gave the Bulldogs an idea of where they stand amongst several GPAC rivals early in the season. Three conference squads placed in the top four of the Mount Marty Invite leaderboard: Morningside, Doane and Dakota Wesleyan.
