SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – In a display of the parity within the roster, Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf had two groupings card scores within five strokes of each other on day one action at the Siouxland Invite co-hosted by Dordt and Northwestern. With two of three rounds complete in northwest Iowa, junior Jude Elgert stands atop the list of 10 Bulldogs entered into the tournament field. The first two rounds on Monday (Sept. 8) took place at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The outing marks tournament No. 3 of the fall season for Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad, which co-hosted last week’s Blue River Classic. On Monday, Concordia finished with scores of 334-321–655 (‘A’ team) and 320-330–650 (‘B’ team), respectively.
A transfer from Central Community College-Columbus, Elgert has now shot a 78 in four straight rounds. His cumulative two-round score of 156 puts him in a tie for 39th (out of 91) on the Siouxland Invite individual leaderboard. Elgert paced a ‘B’ team that also got a strong showing on Monday from freshman Charles Summy (78-83–161), who is tied for 57th place.
Meanwhile, the ‘A’ squad has been led so far by freshman Calvin Zabloudil (82-77–159) and senior Jake Richmond (82-77–159), who turned in identical scores through the first two rounds. The rest of the ‘A’ team includes senior Brock Rogers (83-85–168) and freshmen Logan Krabbenhoft (88-82–170) and Tyler Weismann (87-85–172).
The Siouxland Invite is loaded with GPAC teams, including Doane, Dordt, Hastings, Morningside, Mount Marty and Northwestern. The Red Raiders will take a one-stroke lead (594-595) over Morningside into round three.
