LINCOLN, Neb. – The performance of the Bulldog ‘A’ team on Thursday (Sept. 10) gives Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf something to build upon heading into next week’s action. On a pristine weather day from Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb., the Bulldogs wrapped up the 11th annual Blue River Classic with a 10th-place finish. Senior Jacob Dowd led the way in the third and final round, carding an even par 72. Dowd was one of 16 Concordia competitors in the 88-player field.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s top grouping shot 313-295-298–906 (+42) for the tournament and placed 10th out of 16 squads (11 institutions represented). Sophomore Tyler Weismann led the Bulldogs individually, placing in a tie for 40th.
“Both round two and three, we got off to great starts on the tougher side of the golf course,” Muller said. “We just didn’t do a good enough job finishing those rounds off, but we did shoot our two best team scores of the year. Hopefully, we can use that momentum going into the Siouxland Invite next week.
“Looking at our individual scores, we have a lot of guys who are close. Playing well in tournaments is how those guys are going to separate themselves. We had too many big numbers the last two days.”
In the previous day’s action, Concordia struggled through round one before rebounding for a 295 in round two and a 298 in round three. Weismann and fellow sophomore Calvin Zabloudil starred in round two with identical scores of one-under-par 71. Weismann (79-71-75–225), Zabloudil (77-71-79–227; T-45th) and Jacob Dowd (79-78-72–229; 50th) finished within four strokes of each other at the top of the lineup. The Omaha native Zabloudil has carded two par rounds or better through the fall’s first two tournaments.
Dowd (five birdies in round three) was one of 31 golfers in the field to crack 72 or lower in Thursday’s round. The team captain from Gretna, Neb., was followed in the lineup by senior Jude Elgert (79-75-78–232; T-52nd) and sophomore Logan Krabbenhoft (78-88-73–239; T-70th). Krabbenhoft bounced back from a tough second round to post the team’s second lowest score of round three.
It was a solid tournament for sophomore Kamden Zomer, who led Concordia’s second grouping with a total of 79-78-75–232. In round three, Zomer eagled hole 6 while Landon Weinandt eagled hole 1. Weinandt got better as the tournament went on and posted a 76 on Thursday. He paced the Bulldog C team.
Indian Hills Community College ran away with the Blue River Classic team championship, shooting -36 (828) over the three rounds. Evan Monaghan of Indian Hills took the individual title. The top five from a team perspective also included Southeast Community College (-22), Nebraska Wesleyan University (-21), Doane (-11) and Morningside (-10).

The Bulldogs while have the weekend off while readying to play at the Siouxland Invite this coming Monday-Tuesday (Sept. 14-15). The event will take place at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, Iowa, on day one before shifting to Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa, for day two.
