Concordia 'A' team closes Bethel Invite first round in fifth place

HESSTON, Kan. – For the second weekend in a row, the Concordia University Men’s Golf team is playing a two-day event. With the first round of the Bethel College Invite in the books, the Bulldog ‘A’ team resides in fifth place on the strength of one-over-par performances from Jake Hagerbaumer and Ivan Yabut on Saturday (April 2). Round one was held at Hesston Golf Park in Hesston, Kan. This is already the fourth outing of the spring for Concordia.

Head Coach Brett Muller traveled 10 golfers to the tournament. The top Bulldog grouping shot a team score of 292 while the ‘B’ squad shot a total of 315 in the opening round of the Bethel Invite. There are 10 teams and 65 individual golfers in the field

Below are the scores turned in by Concordia golfers on Saturday. Hagerbaumer and Yabut will enter the second day tied for 13th. Teammate Drew D’Ercole is right on their heels with a 73. They are four strokes behind three tournament co-leaders who each shot a 68. The 292 team score for the Bulldogs was just one stroke off the season best of 291 at the Siouxland Invite back in the fall.

·        Gavin Buttshaw – 76 (T-28th)

·        Taylor Johnson – 79 (T-36th)

·        Nathan Auffut – 80 (T-40th)

·        Jaxson Fullerton – 80 (T-40th)

·        Tyler Bartels – 88 (57th)

The second round of the tournament is slated to tee off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT on Sunday. The action will shift to Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.
