COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The competition is stiff at the annual Bent Tree Intercollegiate hosted by Iowa Western Community College. On day one (Sept. 21) at Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf shot 314-306–620 over two rounds, placing it in ninth with one round left to be contested on Tuesday. The field of 59 players is heavy on junior college competition. The Bulldogs are the lone GPAC squad.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s tournament roster goes eight deep with three players competing as individuals. The tournament marks the fourth varsity event of the fall.
Three Bulldogs shot identical totals to lead the team in Monday’s round. The following players are each tied for 29th on the individual leaderboard: sophomores Logan Krabbenhoft (74-79–153) and Tyler Weismann (81-72–153) and junior Landon Weinandt (76-77–153). The five-player Concordia lineup in Council Bluffs also features senior Jude Elgert (83-78–161; 48th) and sophomore Calvin Zabloudil (83-83–166; T-51st).
The three Concordia players also included in the field are sophomore Charlie Summy (80-83–163; T-49th), freshman Wyatt Groves (85-83–168; 54th) and senior Jacob Dowd (92-80–172; T-55th).
The team leaders heading into round three are Hutchinson Community College (-27), Park University (Mo.) (+2), Nebraska Wesleyan University (+3), Dodge City Community College (+3) and Iowa Western Community College (+3).
