CAIRO, Neb. – The Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf team had hopes of repeating as champions in the annual rivalry clash with Doane. However, the Tigers dominated the singles matches and seized the Bulldog-Tiger Cup by a score of 10-5. The action took place at Centura Hills Golf Club in Cairo, Neb., on Saturday (April 12).
Head Coach Brett Muller’s program won the 2024 cup by a count of 12-9 over Doane. The event marked the second outing this spring that included match play. The format for the Bulldog-Tiger Cup features best ball and singles matches.
In the latest cup battle, Concordia held its own in best ball, which concluded with a tie, 2.5 to 2.5. Winners for the Bulldogs were the pairs of Jake Richmond and Jacob Dowd and Maxwell Fremarek and Bret Brenneis. In singles play, senior Justin Webert was the lone Concordia winner. Meanwhile, three Bulldogs halved their singles matches: Jake Hagerbaumer, Jaxson Fullerton and Gavin Buttshaw.
