HESSTON, Kan. – A group of eight Bulldogs took to the course in Hesston, Kan., as part of round one at the 2023 Bethel College Spring Invitational. Ivan Yabut carded a team low of 71 for the day (April 1) and Concordia University Men’s Golf concluded round one in sixth place out of 11 squads entered into the two-day event. The first round was staged at Hesston Municipal Golf Park (par 71).
The tournament marks the second outing of the spring for Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad. The Bulldogs shot a team score of 295 on Saturday in their first event coming off a runner-up placement at the Doane Spring Invite.
Yabut shot even par while carding seven birdies in round one of the Bethel Invite. He stands in a tie for 17th on the individual leaderboard, which includes a total of 75 golfers. Concordia’s five-man team also featured Jake Hagerbaumer (72), Drew D’Ercole (76), Justin Webert (76) and Gavin McWhorter (78). Another three Bulldogs are competing as individuals at the tournament. Sophomore Jaxson Fullerton turned in an impressive career low of 72, tying Hagerbaumer for the second best round on the team. All scores from Saturday are listed below.
After round one, Doane leads the field with a score of 276. The rest of the top five includes Southeast Community College (279), Midland (283), Doane ‘B’ (286) and Briar Cliff (292).

Action at the Bethel Invite is slated to resume at 8:30 a.m. CT on Sunday. The tournament will shift to Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan., for day two. Live results throughout the event are being populated via Golfstat.
