ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf found Landsmeer Golf Club more to its liking. A day after producing uncharacteristically high scores, the Bulldogs returned closer to the form they expect as the ‘A’ team shot a sub-300 score in the third and final round of the Siouxland Invite (Sept. 8-9) co-hosted by Dordt and Northwestern. Nearly all Concordia competitors improved their score from the previous round as action shifted from The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Landsmeer in Orange City, Iowa.

Head Coach Brett Muller’s program entered two teams into the field at the Siouxland Invite. They placed 13th (334-321-299–954) and 15th (320-330-314–964), respectively, in a tournament featuring 91 golfers.

“Yesterday was below expectations for us,” Muller said. “It was pretty windy and a tough course, but I think we let the wind affect us way too much. We definitely should have had lower scores and a lower team score. I’m proud of the way the guys regrouped and bounced back today. We eliminated a lot of big numbers that we had yesterday.”

Senior Jake Richmond sharpened his game on Tuesday and led the way by carding a one-over-par 72 at Landsmeer. He wound up as the highest placing Bulldog in a tie for 44th place. Richmond birdied four times on the back nine. Meanwhile, freshman Calvin Zabloudil (82-77-76–235) and junior Jude Elgert (78-78-79–235) placed just outside the top 50. In pacing the ‘B’ team, Elgert posted the lowest first two rounds among Bulldogs.

The rest of the ‘A’ team included senior Brock Rogers (83-85-76–244) and freshmen Logan Krabbenhoft (88-82-75–245) and Tyler Weismann (87-85-78–250). Following Richmond, Zabloudil, Rogers and Logan Fragomeni shared the team’s next best score with 76s on Tuesday.

In a field dominated by GPAC squads, Hastings won the tournament by shooting 304-295-276–875. Next in line were Morningside (879) and Northwestern (883).
