2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America Football Teams
SEWARD, Neb. – Jonah Weyand can now call himself a two-time Academic All-America® Football Team award winner. On Friday (Dec. 17), College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) recognized Weyand as an Academic All-American for the second season in a row. The Crete High School alum was put up for All-America accolades after being chosen as a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree on Nov. 18. Weyand joins Hallick Lehmann as the second Concordia University Football student-athlete to earn multiple Academic All-America awards.
The 2021 Academic All-America® Football Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NAIA, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III.
A First Team All-GPAC running back in 2020, Weyand has led the Bulldogs in rushing in back-to-back years. The Crete, Neb., native rushed for 595 yards and three touchdowns on 143 carries this past season. Weyand rushed for more than 100 yards in each of the final two games of the 2021 season. He ran 625 yards and nine touchdowns the previous year. In his career, Weyand has totaled 1,339 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. Weyand is also a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete and is studying Psychology and Strategic Communication.
As a program, Concordia football has garnered at least one Academic All-District selection in each of the past 10 years.
