Napier chosen as honorary captain; 11 Bulldogs recognized by Omaha World-Herald

SEWARD, Neb. – Lane Napier headlined a group of 11 Bulldogs recognized with 2021 All-Midlands college football team accolades, as selected by the Omaha World-Herald and announced on Sunday (Dec. 26). Napier was named the team’s honorary defensive captain, an award the All-American has collected for the third time in his career. The All-Midlands team honors the top players from NAIA and NCAA Division III teams within the state of Nebraska.

Napier was joined on the All-Midlands squad by teammates Caydren Cox, Peyton Mitchell, Johnny Robinson III and Garrett Schardt. Meanwhile, six Bulldogs were tabbed honorable mention by the World-Herald. The full list is shown below.

Lane Napier (Honorary Captain), LB
2021134 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 sack, 1 interception; GPAC Defensive Player of the Year; NAIA First Team All-American (AP and AFCA).

Caydren Cox, LB
2021 – 55 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery; Second Team All-GPAC.

2021 – 35 receptions, 471 yards, 13.5 avg, 4 TD; 58 punts (36.3 avg) with 14 downed inside the 20.

DJ McGarvie (Honorable Mention), QB
2021 – 130/243 (.535), 1,484 yards, 19 TD, 7 interceptions; rushed for 142 yards and 2 TD.
