
SEWARD, Neb. – The trend of Concordia University, Nebraska Football earning at least one player of the week award after each game continues this week. On Monday (Oct. 6), the league office recognized junior Carlos Collazo as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player of the Week. The Bulldogs have pulled in five GPAC player of the week honors through their first four games of 2025.
A Marquette, Neb., native and Aurora High School product, Collazo put forth a workhorse-like effort in last week’s 52-43 win at Mount Marty as he rushed for a school single game record 283 yards on 39 carries. Collazo sealed the victory in the fourth quarter with touchdown runs of five and 29 yards. Collazo broke the rushing record on his final carry – the 29-yard touchdown burst. The previous rushing record was 266 yards shared by Ryan Durdon (2017) and Randy Pospishil (1972).
Collazo leads all GPAC running backs this season for rushing yards per game (140.0). In three games in 2025, Collazo has piled up 420 yards and five touchdowns on 72 attempts. In his collegiate career, Collazo has rushed 155 times for 976 yards and 12 touchdowns. Collazo is studying Crimianl Justice, Psychology and Behavioral Science.
Collazo will attempt to crack 1,000 career rushing yards on homecoming Saturday when 19th-ranked Concordia (4-0, 4-0 GPAC) hosts Midland (2-3, 2-2 GPAC). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT from Bulldog Stadium.
