Bulldogs draw 2016 GPAC/KCAC Football Challenge date with Saint Mary
SEWARD, Neb. – As part of the 2016 GPAC/KCAC Football Challenge matchups divulged on Monday, the Concordia University football program will host Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference member University of Saint Mary on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016. Year one of the challenge begins in 2015 when the Bulldogs travel to play Southwestern College on Saturday, Sept. 5, as announced on June 17.
“The GPAC is very excited to get the GPAC/KCAC Football Challenge underway in 2015 and now that we know the matchups for 2016, even more excitement is building for this partnership between two outstanding NAIA conferences,” GPAC commissioner Corey Westra said in a release from the conference.
Southwestern, Concordia’s 2015 KCAC opponent, went 1-10 overall and 1-8 in conference action in 2014. Saint Mary, who will visit Bulldog Stadium in 2016, posted marks of 4-7 overall and 4-5 in the KCAC this past season.
The two-year agreement between the conferences pairs GPAC and KCAC teams based on their conference finishes from the 2013 and 2014 football seasons. KCAC teams will host the first set of nonconference games on Sept. 5, 2015 with the GPAC representatives returning the favor by hosting the second set of games the following year on Sept. 3, 2016.
