DES MOINES, Iowa – In its most significant event of the season to date, the Concordia University dance team placed fourth out of six at the regional dance and cheer competition hosted by Grand View University on Saturday. The regional came a week after the Bulldogs finished seventh at the first ever GPAC Cheer and Dance Invite.

Concordia will await the results from other regional qualifiers to find out whether its performance was sufficient to earn a berth to nationals. The NAIA National Cheer and Dance Invitational will be held on March 14 in Oklahoma City.

“In the last week we made some changes to the routine,” third-year head coach Daneen Kovar Theye said. “The dancers worked hard to improve and make these changes. They went out there and gave it their all and improved greatly from the preliminary round to the final routine.

“They put their heart and soul into the routine and I am extremely proud of their hard work and dedication.”

Saturday’s competition also featured the following schools: Briar Cliff, Doane, Grand View, Hanniabal-La Grange, Midland, Missouri Baptist and St. Ambrose.

The Concordia dance squad is captained by Allison Schuerman and Erin Wineman.
