Concordia improves in second competition, takes third at Dordt Invite

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Three days after performing in front of the home crowd at Friedrich Arena, Concordia University, Nebraska Competitive Dance took its act on the road for the Dordt Invite. The Bulldogs came away with an improved score and a placement of third behind only Viterbo University (Wis.) and Doane. The Bulldogs earned a score of 85.21 as part of Saturday (Jan. 24)’s action at De Witt Gymnasium in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Head Coach Mandi Maser was pleased with the way the team progressed after some tweaks were made to the routine.

“Bulldog Dance had a good competition today,” Maser said. “We made some adjustments from Wednesday and the score increased a couple points, and the team performed with great energy.”

Viterbo took the Dordt Invite crown with a score of 90.21, prevailing by a margin of nearly five points over Doane (85.41). Concordia outperformed the likes of Morningside (80.84), Dordt (77.96), Mount Mercy (75.46), Northwestern (74.71) and York (68.59).

In Wednesday’s home dual win over College of Saint Mary, the Bulldogs turned in a score of 83.6. Concordia is coming off a 2024-25 season that saw it rank in the top 10 nationally for scoring average. From that team, the Bulldogs returned captains Taylor Larsen (two-time All-American) and Elise O’Neill and a total of five GPAC All-Conference athletes.

Up next for the Bulldog cheer and dance squads will be the Kansas Wesleyan Invite this coming Friday. The invite is scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m. CT from Mabee Arena in Salina, Kan. A live stream can be watched via Urban Edge Network.
