Concordia places five on All-Conference Teams, Schmidt named Runner-of-the-Year

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the individual and coaching honors for the 2010 season.  Dana Schmidt was recognized as the 2010 Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Runner-of-the-Year, while a total of five Concordia athletes earned All-Conference recognition.

Sarah Kortze (Rockford, Ill.) and Alicia Marteney (Pawnee City, Neb.) were All-Conference selections on the women’s side.  Both Kortze and Marteney qualified individually for the NAIA National Championships to be held on November 20.

Schmidt (Grundy Center, Iowa) headlines the men’s All-Conference team following a first place finish at last weekend’s GPAC Championships.  He won the meet with a time of 25:41.11 and helped the Bulldog men secure the automatic bid to the men’s NAIA National Championships.  Colin Morrissey (Omaha, Neb.) and Tyson Billings (Valentine, Neb.) also earned All-Conference honors for the Bulldogs.  The Concordia men head to Nationals with a No. 8 ranking in the final NAIA Top 25 Poll.
