All-American finish caps solid 2010 for Schmidt

Concordia University’s Dana Schmidt is a 2010 All-American following his performance at the NAIA National Cross Country Meet this past weekend.  It’s the second straight year Schmidt has earned the honor.

Schmidt, a junior from Grundy Center, Iowa, finished 26th overall at the National Meet on Saturday with a time of 25:36.  The All-American finish was a fitting end to yet another impressive season for Schmidt.

Dana was named GPAC Runner-of-the-Week three times this season for the Bulldogs.  Prior to Nationals, he finished no lower than fifth in any meet this season.  Schmidt helped the Bulldogs to first place finishes at the Concordia Open and the Mount Marty Invite.

Schmidt is the 2010 GPAC Champion as well as the 2010 Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Runner-of-the-Year.  He led his team back to the National Meet, where the Bulldogs placed 20th overall.

Dana is also one of nine Concordia cross country athletes to be named as 2010 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
