YORK, Neb. – The meet-to-meet improvement continues for Concordia University, Nebraska Competitive Cheer. The Bulldogs posted their highest score so far this season as part of action on Friday (Feb. 6) at the York University Crown Classic. The Bulldogs garnered a score of 67.85 and placed eighth out of 12 teams in the field that made its way to York, Neb.
Head Coach Emilie Ashenbach’s squad improved by more than seven points compared to last week’s Coyote Classic at Kansas Wesleyan University.
“We had a great showing today at York,” Ashenbach said. “I’m really proud that we were able to go out, hit a full routine, and truly showcase the skills this team has been working so hard on. This group continues to live out our mentality, and their mindset is truly unmatched.”
In solidifying a competition team, Concordia rolled eight competitors out onto the mat on Friday afternoon. It remains a young squad featuring five freshmen, two sophomores and just one senior (Ara Maxwell). The crew of freshmen and sophomores now have three collegiate competitions under their belts.
Ashenbach added, “It was a strong step forward for us and a great experience in a competition setting. We’re excited to carry that momentum into our home competition tomorrow and can’t wait to show the Bulldog family what this team has cooking.”
Concordia placed in front of the following teams at the York Classic: Sterling College (ninth), Waldorf (10th), Hastings (11th) and York (12th). The team champion was Northwestern. The top three squads earned trophies.
