SEWARD, Neb. – A recent scoring binge has resulted in senior Brevin Sloup being named the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday (Feb. 25). Sloup was recognized with the same award back on New Year’s Eve. Teammates Carter Kent (Jan. 7) and Tanner Shuck (Jan. 14) have also earned one GPAC Player of the Week honor apiece in 2019-20.

Sloup’s big shot making has been a major factor in Concordia’s four-game win streak to cap the regular season. Over that stretch, The Mayor has posted point totals of 25, 29, 22 and 28, respectively. In last week’s action, the Seward High School product went a combined 14-for-22 (.636) from the floor and 5-for-8 (.625) from 3-point range in road wins over Midland and Jamestown. Sloup also added 13 rebounds and eight assists on the week.

With 1,195 career points, Sloup has moved into 20th place on the Bulldog men’s basketball all-time list. In this 2019-20 season, Sloup ranks 10th among GPAC players with an average of 16.2 points per game. He has contributed 83 3-point field goals to the team’s school record single-season total of 333.

Concordia (21-9, 12-8 GPAC) now gets set to host Northwestern at 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday in the GPAC quarterfinals. The Bulldogs defeated the Red Raiders twice during the regular season.
