Men’s basketball places three individuals on Scholar-Athlete list

A trio of Bulldog men’s basketball players were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes by the NAIA on Monday: Phil Friedrich, Brent Houchin and Adam Vogt. Both Friedrich and Houchin have now reeled in Scholar-Athlete honors in each of the past two years.

Friedrich, a senior from Seward, is a business administration major. Houchin, a senior who hails from Bruning, Neb., is studying AgriBusiness, while Vogt, a junior from Syracuse, Neb., is majoring in secondary education with an emphasis in math and physical education.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor. A total of 134 NAIA Division II men’s basketball players were named 2013 Scholar-Athletes.
