Haywood and Bredow earn Colorado state honors

Concordia University men’s basketball recruit Joel Haywood and Concordia alum Ryan Bredow picked up postseason honors for their efforts this season at Denver Lutheran High School.

Denver Lutheran, in its final year of existence, won the Colorado Class 2A Championship behind the play of Haywood and coaching of Bredow.  Haywood was named Mr. Basketball and Player-of-the-Year in Class 2A, while Coach Bredow earned Colorado Coach-of-the-Year honors.

Haywood averaged over 24 points per game as the Lights went 23-4 and won their first state championship since 1986.  Haywood took part in the Colorado High School All-Star Game this past weekend in Denver.  He scored seven points for the victorious Blue Team.
