Bulldogs look for season sweep of Dakota Wesleyan on Sunday

The Concordia University men’s basketball team will look for a big win on the road when it travels to Dakota Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.  Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Following a pair of tough losses to Northwestern College (96-87) and Dordt College (92-72), the Bulldogs used solid defense and a huge night by senior Ryan Shrum to beat Nebraska Wesleyan 68-55 on Wednesday.  With the win, Concordia improved to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in GPAC play. Concordia is currently tied for fourth in the conference standings.

Shrum (Allen, Texas) scored a career-high 31 points and hit eight 3-pointers in the Bulldog win over Nebraska Wesleyan.  Tyler Byrd (Bennington, Neb.) added a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for Concordia.

Earlier this season, Concordia held off a late rally to pick up an 82-71 victory over Dakota Wesleyan.  Byrd scored a game-high 22 points for the Bulldogs in the win.  Shrum delivered 15 points, and Barrett Braun (Lakeside, Calif.) chipped in with 14.

Dakota Wesleyan enters the weekend with a 14-6 overall record.  The Tigers are seventh in the GPAC with a 4-5 conference mark.
