2026 NAIA Baseball Preseason All-America Team

SEWARD, Neb. – Two pitchers represented Concordia University, Nebraska Baseball with recognition announced on Wednesday (Dec. 3) by the NAIA. Bulldogs Alex Johnson and Daiten Schmidt were named to the 2026 NAIA Baseball Preseason All-America team. The exclusive honor roll is made up of only 17 total players from the NAIA.

A native of Olathe, Kan., Johnson has returned for his sixth year in the program. He was named the 2025 GPAC Pitcher of the Year, making him the third pitcher during Head Coach Ryan Dupic’s tenure to earn this distinction. This past 2025 season, Johnson made 12 starts and logged 69 innings while posting a 3.13 ERA to go along with an 8-3 record and 100 strikeouts. On the program’s all-time lists, Johnson ranks sixth in strikeouts (211), sixth in wins (18), sixth in ERA (3.34) and seventh in games started (38). He is a two-time First Team All-GPAC award winner. Johnson successfully returned from injury in 2025 after missing virtually the entire 2023 and 2024 campaigns.

A Norris High School product and former Iowa Central Community College student-athlete, Schmidt thrived in the closer role last season as a junior. He notched eight saves and sported a 2.55 ERA in 17 appearances (17.2 innings) out of the bullpen. Schmidt fanned 18 hitters against just four walks. His save total was the third highest in a single season in program history. Schmidt was tabbed First Team All-GPAC.

Since the start of 2018, Concordia has collected nine total postseason NAIA All-America awards. Jaidan Quinn earned three straight All-America awards from 2023 through 2025.
