SEWARD, Neb. – One appearance into his career with Concordia University, Nebraska Baseball, junior Sam Bespoyasny has already been lauded by the GPAC. On Wednesday (Feb. 11), the conference tabbed Bespoyasny the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Pitcher of the Week. The announcement marks the first release of conference baseball player of the week awards for the 2026 season.

An Omaha native and transfer from Moberly Area Community College, Bespoyasny took the hill in game No. 2 of the ’26 campaign. He responded by limiting 22nd-ranked Bellevue University to two runs on five hits and three walks in six innings of work. Bespoyasny fanned five Bruins and picked up the win. Head Coach Ryan Dupic expects Bespoyasny to be a key piece of the pitching staff throughout the spring. Bespoyasny is a graduate of Creighton Prep and was an all-region award winner at Moberly. He is studying Exercise Science.

No. 16 Concordia (3-1) will resume the season this weekend with a four-game series versus Clarke University. Doubleheaders are slated to get underway at 1 p.m. on Saturday and at 12 p.m. on Sunday from Den Hartog Field in Lincoln, Neb.
