SEWARD, Neb. – For their performances throughout the calendar month, Noah Schutte of the men’s basketball program and Adrianna Rodencal of the track & field program have been selected as the Bulldog Athletic Association Member (BAAM) Athletes of the Month for February 2023. Rodencal and Schutte were winners of a vote conducted on Tuesday (Feb. 28) at the BAAM luncheon. Schutte and Rodencal have both collected multiple monthly awards in 2022-23.

Schutte played at an incredible level throughout February. In seven games during the month, Schutte averaged 25.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 54.3 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from 3-point range and 76.1 percent from the foul line. The Laurel, Neb., native ended the month with a flurry and racked up 38 points, 18 rebounds and a school record nine 3-point field goals in the GPAC quarterfinal win at Northwestern. On the season, Schutte has averaged 20.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He’s been selected as the GPAC Player of the Week three times in 2022-23 and was honored as a First Team All-GPAC player on Wednesday (March 1). Earlier in the month of February, Schutte eclipsed 1,000 points for his collegiate career. The Bulldogs stand at 18-12 overall while hoping for an at-large national tournament berth.

A freshman from Lincoln Lutheran High School, Rodencal has enjoyed a tremendous freshman indoor season on the track. This past month, Rodencal helped the Concordia women win the GPAC title in dominant fashion. Individually, Rodencal captured conference championships in the 60 hurdles and the 200 meters and placed second in the 200 meters. The 28 points scored resulted in her being named the GPAC Women’s Athlete of the Meet and the 2023 GPAC Women’s Indoor Athlete of the Year. Rodencal’s 60 hurdles time of 8.72 at the GPAC Championships broke her own school record. During February, Rodencal clocked three hurdles times of 8.80 or lower. She has qualified for nationals and will run the 60 hurdles and 200 meters in Brookings, S.D., this weekend.

BAAM Athletes of the Month are rewarded out of the pool of student-athletes that garner BAAM Athlete of the Week recognition throughout the month.
